MOVE Dance Company is home to an award-winning team of dancers ages 5–18, with skill levels ranging from Advanced Beginner to Advanced. Our curriculum-based training program focuses on Ballet, Jazz, Hip Hop, Contemporary, Musical Theater, and technique-driven classes designed to build strong, versatile dancers both on and off the stage.

While competition is an exciting part of the MOVE Company experience, our mission goes far beyond trophies and titles. We are committed to developing strong technical foundations, confidence, discipline, teamwork, leadership, and outstanding sportsmanship in every dancer. At MOVE, we believe dance teaches life lessons that extend far beyond the studio walls.

Classes & Rehearsals

MOVE Company classes and rehearsals are held on Mondays and Tuesdays.

​

Weekly Training Requirements

• MOVE MINI Company: Approximately 4 hours per week

• MOVE Junior, Teen & Senior Company: Approximately 6 hours per week

 

All MOVE Company dancers are required to participate in:

• Ballet

• Jazz

• Hip Hop

• Contemporary

• Technique Classes

Additional tumbling and technique classes are optional but highly encouraged for dancers wanting to further strengthen their skills.

​

Each August, families receive a full MOVE Company Competition Calendar at our Parent Meeting outlining:

​

• Choreography Weekends

• Conventions

• Special Events

• Regional Competitions

• Nationals

• Important Team Dates

This allows families ample time to plan throughout the season.

 

Competition Events

​

MOVE Company typically attends:

• 4 Regional Competitions beginning in February

• 1 National Competition during the summer

 

Competition schedules are generally finalized well in advance to help families prepare for travel and scheduling needs.

 

Community Performances & Recitals

 

In addition to competitions, MOVE Company dancers proudly represent our studio throughout the community by performing in:

• The local Hartsville Christmas Parade

• MOVE Dance Academy’s Annual Spring Recitals

 

Our annual recitals are held at the prestigious Center Theater in downtown Hartsville, South Carolina.

The 2024–2025 season was another incredible year for MOVE Company. Our dancers and teams earned:

• Top 5 and Top 10 placements at every regional competition attended

• High Platinum and Diamond adjudication awards

At Believe Nationals 2025, MOVE Company earned:

• 4 National Championship Titles

• Entertainment National Champions

• Spirit Day National Champions

• Multiple Choreography Awards

• Battle Titles

 

Our instructors were also recognized for their outstanding creative work with awards including:

• Best Choreography

• Best Staging

• Costume Awards

 

Additionally, MOVE Dance Academy was honored with the Intermediate Highest Scoring Studio Award at Platinum Dance Competition.

We are excited for the 2025–2026 season and cannot wait to see our dancers take the stage again at Regionals and Nationals this summer.

MOVE Company Fundraising and Sponsorship opportunities are offered throughout the year to help offset the cost of:

• Other Team-Related Costs

 

Funds raised by each dance family are applied directly to that dancer’s individual account.
