ABOUT US

MOVE Dance Academy, founded in 2014, is a family-oriented dance studio that offers classes in the genres of Jazz, Ballet, Hip Hop, Contemporary, Tap, and Tumbling. MOVE offers three levels of training geared towards a child’s development in movement. Recreational, Performance, and Competitive.

The MOVE mission is to build a child’s self-confidence, self-esteem, and love for the dance arts through a disciplined, positive reinforcement environment. Missy Johnson, owner of MOVE Dance Academy believes, “Dance is more than just dance. With commitment, students at MOVE learn life lessons that can take them far beyond the studio walls to becoming wonderful, hardworking, positive members of their community in the future; wherever life takes them.” The widely diverse and talented faculty and staff at MOVE share that same philosophy and strive to provide each of their students the skills needed to help them develop as strong dancers on their respective levels.

In 2023-2024 the MOVE Competitive Team achieved numerous high-level awards and achievements, including winning 3 National Championship Titles at Nexstar Nationals in Gatlinburg, TN. They also won a number of choreography awards, Spirit Week National Champions and Entertainment National Champions including Battle Finalists. MOVE was named as one of the top dance studios to attend in the Southeast. They are currently training and preparing to defend their Regional and National success for the 2024-2025 competitive dance season.
