Emerson Joyner, Ballet Mistress

EMERSON JOYNER has over 19 years of experience in classical ballet training and can’t wait to share it with MOVE! Emerson began her dance training at Litchfield Dance Arts Academy in Pawleys Island, South Carolina. Emerson continued her classical ballet training at The Rock School for Dance Education and Orlando Ballet School as a teenager. She has completed the Royal Academy of Dance syllabus and examinations and received distinction on all exams. Emerson is also trained in the Vaganova Technique style. Multiple times, she has competed at the prestigious Youth America Grand Prix ballet competition, placing in the top twelve and qualifying for the New York City finals as a representative of the United States. Emerson performed professionally with Charleston City Ballet from 2013-2015 prior to continuing her higher education. Her performance experience includes most well-known classical ballets, as well as, guest artist works by George Staib, Contra Tiempo Dance Company, and Trisha Brown Dance Company. In 2017, Emerson’s Contemporary Ballet Choreography was presented and adjudicated at the Mid-Atlantic South Regional Conference of the American College Dance Association. Currently, she is a Senior at Coker College and in the final stages of obtaining her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Choreography and Performance. She is a 200 hour Registered Yoga Teacher and specializes in injury prevention with athletes and dancers. She has taught Injury Prevention Classes to Coker College Athletes, as well as, in the local community. In addition to teaching ballet at MOVE, she will be teaching Adult Yoga during the 2019-2020 season!
